As I stumbled through the icy streets of Paris, I caught the most delicious smell in the air, which led me to a stall selling crepes. With childlike glee I popped one into my mouth, and suddenly I was overwhelmed by a self-awareness: I had come from the most elegant hotel, and yet I was experiencing the ultimate moment of bliss, enjoying street food in the bitter cold.
